Year 5 Learning Logs

Easter Holiday Learning Log

The Learning Log for the Easter holiday is to work through the test papers that you have been given for Reading and for Procedural Maths. It would be best to work through it in sections and ask an adult to have a look at the work you've done to see if there are any areas that you can work on. This task does not need to be returned to school. There will be no extra handwriting and spellings to complete, but it is important to keep reading. Have a good holiday!

Song Words -Alive

Song words - Lord I Lift Your Name on High!

Year 5 are celebrating the Resurrection on Thursday 29th March with a class liturgy.

You will need to wear bright, colourful, party clothes , with a dark hooded jumper or cardigan over the top.

Please learn the lines you have been given and the words to the songs.

For the reading comprehension test practice questions, this week, use the booklet from last week 'Footprints in Space. Answer the questions about Helen Sharman the information you need is on page 3 of the booklet.

You do not need to print the questions you can look at them online and answer the questions in your learning log book.

UNICEF consultation with children.

The Welsh Government have asked Unicef UK to help them collect the views of children and young people in our Rights Respecting Schools and to feedback their views.

Year 5 will be taking part in Welsh Government consultation on removing the defence of ‘reasonable punishment' on Friday 9th March 2018. Please read the Parent information sheet sent home with your child. A copy is attached below.

We are thinking about 'Memories' in our RE topic this week. Think of some small treasure you have kept to remind you of a memory. Perhaps a shell from the beach, a medal or trophy from a sporting event or a ticket from a film or journey you have made. If possible bring it to school to share with our class.

Learning Log 6th February 2018

We are studying the work of the Welsh artist Geraint Dodd. We would like to produce a painting in the style of Geraint Dodd based on a landscape or seascape picture / photograph we have taken whilst on holiday. Look for a picture of your favourite landscape -  no people or buildings. Bring the photograph to school so we can try to paint that scene. This will be part of our art competition entry for the Eisteddfod.

Remember it is our class trip to Cog Moors on Tuesday, return your consent form as soon as possible.

You have been asked to bring a 'Zero Waste' lunch. Try to think about food you can bring that can be stored in reusable containers.

Remember to finish last week's maths homework sheet. Complete the work on puzzling perimeters if you didn't do it last week.
