Transport - Active Travel. CTK Walking Bus 2024. Meet at the Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoir car park, every Tuesday in Summer Term at 8.20 am.

Food Health and Well being. Stewardship Senedd Team growing in our Vegetable Garden. Leading the ‘Eat them to Defeat them’ campaign.

Global Citizenship - representatives from Eco Power met the Children’s Commissioner for Wales to discuss Eco issues and children’s rights.

Global Citizens Year 6 met with local councillors and the Lord Mayor to find out how we can take action, to influence change and help our leaders make informed decisions.

RNLI representatives spoke to us in assembly about water safety, how to call for help in an emergency and how to check pollution levels using an app before you swim.

Transport Active Travel. Park and Stride.

Year 5 Eco Power launch a new venue for parents to ‘Park and Stride’ from - Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoir. Starting Spring 2. They had a leaflet competition to share the information with our families. They lead the whole school assembly to share this exciting news and encourage pupils to Park and Stride. Eco Power Senedd voted on the winner of the leaflet competition.

Swap Shop #2 St. David’s Day and World Book Day costumes. We had 41 costumes donated. An increase of 39 items from our Christmas Swap Shop.

Eco Power taking part in the Big School Bird Watch.

Year 3 joined the Eco Schools Wales webinar with RSPB to hear about the Big School Birdwatch.

Eco Power Senedd team joined the Mini Vinnies for the RSPB Big School Bird Watch as part of the CAFOD Live Simply challenge as well as gathering data on our school grounds and it’s biodiversity.

Year 6 begin their Litter monitoring Eco challenge as part of our Senedd action plan. Mrs Miles our headteacher was shocked about the increase in the amount of litter in our school grounds. What has changed? Why is there an increase? What can we do about it?

Year 5 are monitoring the use of the travel tracker and reported back on an improvement in whole school engagement at our weekly assembly. They also gave out our WOW badges for January and the award for the class of the week to Year 4 for the class with the most active travel to school.

Our Eco Team Travel sub committee award the Wow badges for active travel in November and December.

The Eco Team worked with Keith from Dwr Cymru to lead an informative assembly about how our water is collected cleaned and delivered to our homes. We were encouraged to think of ways we can save water.

Planting wild tulips, bluebells and snow drops in our Forest School area. We are working with a creative lead practitioner to improve our school grounds. This is the planning stage. We also spent some time meditating and reflecting on what makes this area of the school special and how could we improve it.

Call to action on World Children’s Day - our rights respecting Senedd team led a whole school assembly encourage us to use our pupil voice. What can you do to tackle climate change?

Year 4 came to share their end of topic presentations on the ‘Blue Abyss’ with year 3. They have found out about water pollution and biodiversity in the oceans.

Our Eco Team and Minnie Vinnies joined together for Senedd to plan some actions for our Live Simply award. We planned some Swap Shop sessions for the whole year. We though we could swap World Book Day costumes, story books, football boots, computer games and much more. We made posters to tell our friends about our ideas.

Year 3, 4 and 5 joined the Eco Schools Wales live lesson. What is climate change? How do we know about global warming? Who is responsible for making a change?

WOW We launched walk to school month in our Friday assembly. Can we get even more people to earn a badge on the Wow trackers in October?

Mrs Miles came to speak to us about changes to our waste collection and recycling system at school.

Senedd 18th April 2023 creating posters and a PowerPoint to share with the school at assembly on Friday about Earth Day. We had lots of ideas of ways to make a difference in tackling climate change.

Promoting Active Travel by sharing fun ideas in our newsletter for games families can play while walking to school

Eco Evolution team visited Reception class to help them think of ways to stop the ice melting and save Santa’s home.

Year 3 joined the Galwad! Have a look at the resources for schools.

Eco Evolution Senedd meeting 11th October 2022. Members discussed the Active Travel data and how we can encourage more pupils to walk, park and stride or bike to school. We worked on posters and powerpoint presentations to share in assembly next week.

Eco Evolution Any Other Business! Two items today. A request to enter an Eco competition for recycling bins that a member had spotted in a magazine. Also a suggestion to set up energy monitors in each class to check the switches are off as we leave the room.

4th October 2022 Eco Evolution completed a GALWAD22 session discussing the impact the fashion industry has on our environment. We sorted the cards and discussed the information. We thought about changes we could make. We looked at the labels on our clothes to find out where our clothes were made and what fabrics they were made from. Very interesting discoveries.

4th October 2022 The Eco Evolution Senedd team worked together to rebuild the Bug Hotel in our Forest School area. We want to give nature a home on our school grounds. The mini-beasts are important decomposes and pollinators.

3rd October 2022 we re opened our fruit trolley at Snack time.

27th September 2022 Eco Evolution team wrote to our head teacher Mrs Miles and Our secretary Mrs Condon to ask them to place an order for fruit so we can re establish the fruit trolley at snack time.
